Creative critical reflection question #4
How Did You Integrate Technologies During Production?
1. Camera and Filming Equipment:
The iPhone 15 Pro Max in cinematic mode was our primary camera. Its innovative features, such as depth-of-field effects, enabled us to shoot high-quality video that visually enhanced the emotional tone of the movie.
2. Lighting:
Lighting was at the forefront in establishing the mood. We employed natural light for outdoor scenes and the iPhone flash for intentional lighting in dark spots. This creative approach enabled us to maintain the dark tone of the film in spite of limited equipment.
3. Audio Recording:
To ensure good quality sound, we used microphones purchased from Amazon. Although some of these mics did feature in some frames, this was subsequently resolved during post-production, demonstrating the flexibility of technology to use in film-making.
4. Post-Production Technology:
Post-production was where our utilization of technology really came into its own:
Vegas Pro 17 was utilized to address issues, such as removing visible microphones from footage, to ensure a professional output.
Premiere Rush played a crucial role in cutting and editing the film. Its user-friendly interface allowed us to efficiently trim, sequence, and refine our footage, freeing us to focus on narrative pacing and flow.
The two tools were also used for color grading, where darker tones were introduced to bring out the psychological drama elements, and sound design, where the emotional effect of pivotal moments was amplified.
5. Collaboration and Workflow:
We used Google Drive to share scripts, shot lists, and edited drafts among team members, making collaboration easier and ensuring a common creative vision.
6. Social Media for Marketing:
Though outside the core production process, technology extended into marketing. We used social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok to create teasers and behind-the-scenes content, interacting with potential audiences and building hype for the film.
