As part of our media studies journey, our class had the exciting opportunity to attend a workshop at SAE University in Dubai, which specializes in creative media education. This workshop was a great chance to delve deeper into the world of media production, gain insight into the industry, and see firsthand how a renowned institution prepares its students for careers in film, animation, music, and other creative fields.

Exploring the Creative Media Industry

The workshop was designed to give us a comprehensive overview of the creative media industry, from the technical skills required to the evolving trends and demands. Industry professionals shared their expertise, offering valuable insights into how the media landscape is changing and how new technologies, like virtual reality and AI, are impacting film and media production.

One of the most enriching parts of the workshop was learning about the diverse career paths within the media industry. Whether it’s directing, editing, sound design, or production management, we were introduced to various roles that come together to make a successful film or media project. This sparked a lot of discussion in our group about the specific areas we’re interested in pursuing as a team and individually.

Campus Tour: Behind the Scenes at SAE University

After the workshop session, we were given a guided tour around the SAE University campus, which was an eye-opening experience. SAE is known for its hands-on approach to learning, with state-of-the-art facilities that include film studios, sound editing rooms, and motion capture spaces. We were shown the equipment used by students and professionals alike—everything from high-end cameras and lighting gear to specialized software for editing and animation.

It was inspiring to see the environment where future media creators are trained and to witness the creative energy that fills the campus. We also had the chance to speak with current students about their experiences at SAE, hearing about the projects they were working on and the challenges they faced. Impact on Our Project

The visit to SAE University had a direct impact on how we view the creative process for our own short film. Whether we pursue this professionally or as a passionate hobby, it’s clear that the skills we’re developing through our AS Media Studies class will be invaluable as we move forward in the industry.
